How events work on InkMap
What InkMap events are, who can browse them versus post them, the difference between public and private events, how joining and capacity work, and where the events you join show up.
Events are the one-off happenings studios and conventions put on — flash days, workshops, charity days, studio openings, conventions, and more. Anyone can browse them and join the ones they like. Posting an event is for studios and conventions.
This page explains the whole picture in one place. The step-by-step guides cover each part in detail.
What counts as an event
An event is a dated happening with a place, a time, and an optional price. When the poster creates one, they pick a type — flash day, workshop, charity event, studio opening, convention, pop-up shop, and a long list of others — and that type shows as a labelled tag on the event so you can tell at a glance what kind of thing it is.
Events are always tied to a real venue. That's why only accounts with a physical address can post them.
If you want to browse and join
Browsing is open to everyone. You find events in the Events section of the News tab, filter them by type, date, and place, and tap one to see the full details — description, dates, address, price, and who's going.
Joining is for individual people: collectors and practitioners. Studio and convention accounts can post events but can't join them. Joining is immediate — there's no request to approve. If the poster set a maximum number of people and it fills up, the event shows as FULL and you can't join until a spot opens. See Finding and joining events.
If you want to post (studios and conventions)
Posting is limited to studios and conventions, and there are two requirements: your profile must have a venue address, and the Events & Job Board subscription must be active. See Premium for the subscription, and Creating an event for the form.
Public versus private
Every event is either public or private. A public event can be seen and joined by anyone. A private event is visible and joinable only to the people the poster invites by username — no one else sees it, and only invited accounts get notified about it.
Where your joined events show up
The events you join appear under the Events section of your own profile's News tab, so people visiting your profile can see what you're going to. You can hide all of them or pick which ones to show. See Showing or hiding your events.
