Deleting your account
How account deletion works — the 30-day recovery window, what gets cancelled, what blocks deletion, how subscriptions and payouts are handled, and what you can't get back.
Deleting your account doesn't wipe everything instantly. It deactivates your account for 30 days first, then permanently deletes your personal data. During those 30 days you can change your mind and get everything back by logging in again.
You start deletion from Settings → Delete Account at the bottom of the list. The screen checks your account and shows exactly what will happen for you before you confirm — read it, because the details depend on whether you have bookings, a subscription, payouts, or a studio team.
Step by step
- 1
Open the Delete Account screen
Go to Settings → Delete Account. It loads a summary tailored to your account.
- 2
Clear anything that blocks deletion
If something has to be resolved first, the screen shows it as Action Required. Studio accounts have a common one — see "If you run a studio" below. Sort these out before you can continue.
- 3
Type DELETE to confirm
When your account is eligible, type DELETE in the confirmation box and tap the delete button. A final summary spells out what's about to happen; confirm it to deactivate your account.
- 4
Recover within 30 days if you change your mind
Your profile is hidden straight away, but the account isn't gone. Log back in any time within 30 days and you'll be prompted to restore it. After 30 days, the deletion is permanent and can't be undone.
What happens to your bookings, team, and content
When you delete, the summary lists everything that will be cleared for your account, which can include active bookings being cancelled, news items removed, guest spot requests cancelled, and — for a studio — team members removed from the studio. Shared content such as messages, reviews, and posts stays visible to the other people involved, but your profile is no longer reachable.
If you have a premium subscription
A monthly subscription is cancelled at the end of your current billing period — you keep access until then and aren't billed again. An annual subscription also ends, but the remaining months are not refunded, in line with the annual plan terms; the screen makes you tick a box acknowledging this before the delete button unlocks. The same no-refund rule on cancellation is covered in How studio booking licenses and BYOL work.
If you take payments through InkMap
If you collect booking money through Stripe and have a balance, deleting starts a final payout to your bank (the screen shows the amount; payouts take 1–3 business days). If you have a balance but no bank account on file, the screen warns you — add one in Stripe first, otherwise that balance needs manual support help to release.
If you owe or are owed money in a settlement
If you have money owed to you in an open money settlement, deleting your account forfeits it. Settle it on the Money Settlement page first if you want to keep it.
If you run a studio
A studio can't be deleted while its space is hosting active bookings for team members or guest artists. The screen lists each practitioner involved with a Send message link so you can ask them to wrap up or cancel, and a Refresh status button to re-check once they have. When everything's cleared, the page lets you delete.
What you can't get back, even if you recover
Recovering within 30 days restores your account, but some things are gone for good once deletion runs: cancelled bookings, a dissolved team, removed news items, your studio association and map-pin location, and any freed-up or dropped studio-space bookings. You'd need to set those up again. A premium subscription is the exception — it stays scheduled-to-cancel during the window, so recovering keeps it active with no break.
Frequently asked questions
- Will my messages and reviews disappear?
Your profile becomes unreachable, but content you shared with others — messages, reviews, posts — stays visible to those people. Deletion removes your personal data and your access, not the other side of conversations and transactions.
- I deleted by mistake. How do I undo it?
Log back in within 30 days and you'll be prompted to restore your account. After 30 days it's permanent.
- Do I get a refund when I delete?
No. A monthly plan simply stops billing at the end of the current period; an annual plan's remaining months aren't refunded. You keep access for the time you've already paid.
