Editing and deleting messages
Fix a message after you've sent it, remove one from just your own view, or take one back for both of you — and the time limits on each.

You can change or remove a message after sending it. There are three actions, each with its own rules.
Edit a message
Press and hold one of your own messages and choose Edit, within 24 hours of sending it. Editing can also strip out photos or mention cards you'd attached. Voice notes can't be edited.
Delete for me
Removes the message from your view only. The other person still sees it.
Delete for everyone
Removes the message for both of you, within 24 hours of sending. Only the person who sent it can do this.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I edit a voice note?
No. Voice notes can't be edited after sending.
- The other person already read my message — can I still take it back for both of us?
Yes, as long as it's within 24 hours of sending and you're the one who sent it.
