Finding and joining events
How anyone browses events in the News tab, filters them by type, date, and place, opens an event to see the details, and joins or leaves — plus what the FULL badge means and the reminder bell.
Anyone can browse events and join the ones they like. This guide covers finding events in the News tab, narrowing the list, and joining. If you want the bigger picture first, read How events work on InkMap.
Step by step
- 1
Open the Events section of the News tab
Tap the News tab in the bottom bar, then the Events section. You'll see a list of upcoming events. Events that have already finished drop off the list automatically, so everything you see is still to come.
- 2
Narrow the list with filters
Use the filter bar at the top of the Events list to focus on what you want:
- Type — flash days, workshops, charity events, conventions, and the rest.
- Date — a single day, a date range, or all upcoming events.
- Place — search for a country, region, or city.
The list updates to match. Clear the filters to go back to everything.
- 3
Open an event
Tap any event to see its full page: the poster (tap their name to visit the studio's profile), the description, the dates and times, the price (or Free), and the address. Tap the address to jump to it on the Map. You'll also see who's going — a row of participant avatars and the count, next to the maximum if the poster set one.
- 4
Join the event
Tap Join Event. You're in straight away — there's nothing for the poster to approve. To pull out later, open the event again and tap Leave Event, which frees your spot.
Joining is for individual people. If you're on a studio or convention account, the join button doesn't appear — those accounts post events rather than attend them.
- 5
If the event is full
When an event reaches the maximum number of people, it shows a FULL badge and the button reads Event Full. You can't join until someone leaves and a spot opens up.
- 6
Turn on reminders for an event
On an event's page, tap the bell at the top to get reminders before it starts and a heads-up if the poster changes the details. Tap it again to turn reminders off. You manage all your event reminders from the Notifications area.
Frequently asked questions
- I'm a piercer, laser, or PMU practitioner — why was I asked to block my calendar?
Because you take fixed-time client bookings, joining an event asks whether you want to reserve those hours so clients can't book you during the event. Choose Block my calendar to keep the time clear, or Allow bookings to leave it open. You can leave the event anytime.
- Why can't I see an event a friend told me about?
It may be private. A private event is only visible to the people the poster invited by username.
