Archiving and restoring posts
How to archive a post to take it off your profile without losing it, where archived posts live, and how to restore one or delete it for good.
Archiving takes a post off your profile and the feeds without deleting it. It's stored privately, ready for you to bring back whenever you want. This is the gentle alternative to deleting a post outright.
Step by step
- 1
Archive a post
Open the post, tap the three-dots menu, and choose Archive. The post leaves your profile and the feeds straight away, but nothing is lost.
- 2
Open your archive
On your own profile, tap the Archive button in the row of tools just above your posts (next to Reorder, Collabs, and Moderation). Every post you've archived is here, each showing the date you archived it. For the rest of that button row, see Your feed tools.
- 3
Restore a post
Tap Restore on a post and confirm. It goes back to being visible on your profile and in the feeds, exactly as before.
- 4
Delete a post for good
Tap the trash icon and confirm Delete Forever. This permanently removes the post along with its likes, comments, and bookmarks. It can't be undone.
Frequently asked questions
- What's the difference between archiving and deleting?
Archiving hides the post but keeps it — you can restore it any time. Deleting removes it permanently, along with its likes, comments, and bookmarks, with no way back.
- Can I archive a post straight from the feed?
Yes — the Archive option is in the three-dots menu on the post itself, wherever you see it.
