When your free trial ends

What happens to your account when the three-month free trial runs out — what keeps working, what locks for new actions, what stays read-only, and how nothing is ever deleted.

Every practitioner and studio account gets a three-month free trial with all premium tools unlocked. When it ends, the tools you haven't subscribed to lock — but the design goal is simple: never damage your relationship with a client and never lose your data. Anything already in motion finishes normally, and everything is kept for whenever you decide to subscribe.

You get a reminder about a month before the trial ends and a notice when it does, both pointing you to inkmap.app to keep the tools you want.

  • What keeps working

Work that's already underway continues to completion:

    • Bookings already in progress stay fully functional — you can negotiate, confirm, take deposits, and complete the sessions that already exist.
    • Guest spots already in progress continue until they're finished.
    • Your existing bookings stay in your calendar, so you can keep working the ones that are already underway.

The core app is never affected. Your profile, the feeds, the map, posting, messaging, and bookmarking are free and keep working exactly as before.

  • What locks

New business activity is what stops:

    • New booking requests are blocked. Your Book Now button stays where it is, but tapping it shows clients a message instead of a booking form.
    • New sessions on existing bookings can't be added.
    • New guest spot requests are blocked.
    • Your external booking link stops taking new requests — the web page still shows your profile and a contact button, which nudges visitors to reach you another way.
    • Stats and Accounting lock. Opening either tool shows a "switch this back on" screen instead of your dashboards. Nothing inside is touched — every number and record is kept and comes straight back the moment you re-activate the tool.

The buttons don't disappear and the layout doesn't shift — tapping a locked action explains what's happened and points you to the web to switch the tool back on.

  • Nothing is deleted

Your data is never removed when the trial ends. Bookings, client lists, stats, accounting — all of it is preserved. Subscribe later and everything comes straight back where you left it. The trial ending is a lock, not a wipe.

One Accounting detail worth knowing: once you have the Accounting tool active, every month shows on-screen, but a PDF or CSV export only includes the months you actually had the tool active (your trial counts). Months when it was off are quietly left out of the file, with a small note saying which. Re-activating later covers you from then on — it doesn't back-fill past months. See Exporting your report (practitioners) or Exporting studio reports (studios).

  • Turning tools back on

When you're ready, open the Premium screen in the app and tap Manage on the web to subscribe to the tools you want on inkmap.app. You can take just one tool or a bundle — see Managing your subscription and the tool guides for practitioners and studios.

Frequently asked questions

A client wants to book me right after my trial ends. Can they?

Not until you have the Booking System active. Their Book Now tap will show a message rather than a booking form, and your booking link page shows a contact button instead of a form. Subscribing to Booking switches it back on immediately.

Will I lose my stats and past bookings if I don't subscribe?

No — nothing is deleted. Your existing bookings stay in your calendar. The Stats and Accounting tools lock (opening them shows a "switch this back on" screen rather than your dashboards), but every number and record is kept and reappears the moment you subscribe.

Can I finish a booking that was already confirmed during the trial?

Yes. Anything already in progress runs to completion — you can confirm, take the deposit, and complete the session. Only brand-new bookings and new sessions are blocked.

After my trial, can I still export the accounting for those trial months?

You'll need the Accounting tool active to open or export your records. Once it's on, trial months count as covered, so they're included in the export — it's only the months where Accounting was switched off (after the trial, with no subscription) that get left out of the exported file.
