Your Policies & Legal card
How the Policies & Legal card works — your minimum age and parental-consent rules, your deposit refund terms, and the cancellation, health and legal text clients read before booking.
Your Policies & Legal card holds the rules a client agrees to when they book you — your age requirements, your deposit refund terms, and your cancellation and health policies. It's the third of the three cards a client needs filled before they can book you. Most of its text comes pre-filled with sensible defaults, so you're reviewing and adjusting rather than writing from scratch. The card is on the Info tab.
Age requirements
This is the only part of the card that's required for completion.
- Minimum age — the youngest age you'll work with. It defaults to 18.
- Parental consent — switch this on if you'll work with someone under your minimum age when a parent consents, then set the consent age. The consent age has to be lower than your minimum age.
Your age rules are enforced in the booking flow, so this isn't just informational — a client who doesn't meet them can't book.
Deposit refund terms
These settings decide whether a deposit can be refunded if a booking is cancelled:
- A refund notice period — how many days before the appointment a client can cancel and still be eligible for a refund. Leave it unset and the deposit stays refundable.
- A never-refundable switch, if your deposits aren't returned at all.
- A full refund when you cancel switch (on by default), so the client gets their deposit back if you're the one who cancels, plus an optional note.
These terms are locked onto a booking at the moment the client submits it, so changing them later doesn't affect bookings already in progress. The full picture is in Deposit rules and refund eligibility.
Cancellation, health, and legal text
The rest of the card is free text you can edit or leave at the defaults:
- Cancellation, rescheduling, and no-show policies.
- Health and safety — a health disclaimer and notes on allergies, pregnancy, and medication.
- Terms and standards — terms of service, a liability waiver, intellectual-property and dispute notes, and your hygiene and professional standards.
Your age rules, deposit-refund summary, health notes, and legal and professional text appear to clients during the booking checkout. The cancellation, rescheduling, and no-show text shows on your profile and card preview, so clients can read it before they start a booking.
Frequently asked questions
- Which parts of this card do clients actually see?
During the booking checkout, clients see your age rules, your deposit-refund summary, and your health, legal, and professional-standards text. Your cancellation, rescheduling, and no-show policies show on your profile rather than in the checkout — so it's worth keeping them clear there.
- I changed my refund policy. Does it affect my current bookings?
No. The deposit-refund terms are snapshotted onto each booking when the client submits it, and that snapshot governs that booking for its whole life — even if you edit the card afterwards. New bookings pick up your new terms.
- Do I have to write all the health and legal text myself?
No — those fields come pre-filled with general-purpose wording. Review them, adjust anything that doesn't match how you work, and you're done. Only the minimum age is required for the card to count as complete.
